Monaltrie House
Built in 1782 and set in six acres, Monaltrie House
is the home of celebrated interior designer Mikhail Pietranek who
has undertaken commissions worldwide. As you would expect, the interior
of Monaltrie House is unique and of an exceptionally high standard.
All rooms and apartments are distinctively Scottish in style with
delightful tartan and tweed soft furnishings, drapes and wall coverings.
The four poster beds are six feet wide and the twin rooms have zip
and link beds to create additional doubles.
Monaltrie House is ideal for parties who wish to enjoy some privacy.
There are two apartments to choose from, the Lomond and the Lammermoor,
and each has a twin bedroom, four poster double, bathroom and a lounge.
The other bedrooms all have private bathrooms with the Birsemhor
Room having the extra feature of a jacuzzi bath. All rooms have refreshment
bars, drinks coolers, satellite television and phone sockets for
internet access. The drawing room and large, formal dining room are
perfect for sociable gatherings.
Monaltrie House is a perfect wedding venue! The owners have thoughtfully
provided a permanent site for a marquee with an adjacent building
housing kitchen and wcs along with external power supply. An extra
charge applies for these facilities.
Royal Deeside is famous for outdoors sports such as fishing, and
shooting and these are available by separate arrangement. Balmoral
Castle, the home of the Royal Family during the summer, and their
place of worship, Crathie Kirk, are eight miles away. In the Cairngorms
National Park, there is great hiking, climbing and skiing to be had.
This is an area of outstanding beauty that is rich in history. It
is here that Macbeth was defeated by Malcolm Canmore who later initiated
games, the direct descendent of which is the world famous Braemar
Gathering and Highland Games, held each September.
