Castle Lachlan
is in a fairytale setting on Loch Fyne in Argyll, which is famous
for its seafood, in particular, its oysters. Dating from the 18th
century, the castle has been extended in the Scots Baronial style
and is now divided into two properties with the superior, south facing
half available for letting and the MacLachlan family residing in
the other.
Guests
are encouraged to enjoy roaming around this private estate, which
extends to 1500 acres of a working farm, woodlands and coastline.
A 15-minute walk away towards the shore lies the New England-style
Inver Cottage Restaurant, which is owned by the Maclachlan family
and open seasonally. This is a wonderful area for enjoying woodland
walks and wildlife such as pine martins, roe and red deer as well
as marine life including otters, dolphins and porpoises.Guests
at Castle Lachlan will experience a warm welcome thanks to the roaring
log fires in the hall, drawing room and dining room.
Dominating the
timber-floored drawing room, which enjoys the morning and evening
sun, is a magnificent, Italian marble fireplace, which is complemented
by luxurious settees and a Baby Grand piano.The
grand dining room can cater for 16 and up a few steps is the spacious
games room with billiard table. The family portraits and collection
of paintings and naval memorabilia will interest and intrigue guests.
The large kitchen forms a warm gathering area with its red, tiled
floor, Aga and table seating 12.Castle
Lachlan makes a romantic and private licenced wedding venue and will
also appeal to families and corporate groups. Accommodation:
