Duntaynish House is an elegant, secluded
property enjoying a superbly peaceful and private setting in one
of the most outstanding beautiful, unspoilt areas of Scotland. The
surrounding gardens extend into 60 acres of private grounds which
lie in the ancient oak forest of Taynish National Nature Reserve.
An outstanding feature of the property is the enchanting freshwater
Lochan Taynish at the heart of the estate, with a shore-side summerhouse,
ideal for picnics and barbecues and a rowing/fishing boat moored
at a jetty.
Duntaynish House, built by the architect George Pease for his father
Lord Gainford, is a wonderfully light house taking full advantage
of its commanding position. Improvements include an attractive, new
kitchen, where an oil-fired Aga has been restored as the hub of the
home. A newly installed private water supply provides plentiful,
clear, purified drinking water of exceptional quality.
