A wonderful Grade A listed , 17th century Mansion House on the edge of the Holy Loch with spectacular views and a very pleasant, large, well established garden.
Old Kilmun House, recently upgraded with help from Historic Scotland, enjoys a setting second to none, overlooking Holy Loch and set within over 2 acres of colourful, well tended gardens with summer house. The basement play area featuring ¾ sized billiard table, the tv room and the attic bedrooms with extra beds make it a particularly attractive house for families sharing, but groups of friends will also enjoy this spacious, comfortable home. The thoughtful provision of golf clubs, badminton set, fishing rods and bikes adds to the enjoyment of the property.
With a notable historical past, Old Kilmun House is adjacent to the church and graveyard at Kilmun, where the Duke of Argyll’s kinsmen are buried.
Situated in the Trossachs National Park, this area of outstanding natural beauty has countless places of interest to visit, including the Younger Botanical Gardens at Benmore, featuring some of the largest trees in Britain. There is an attractive Arboretum, adjacent to Old Kilmun House, offering a lovely selection of woodland walks.
Dunoon, a 10 minute drive around the head of Holy Loch, has good shopping and leisure facilities including swimming pool and cinema. From here you can take a ferry to Wemyss Bay and on to Rothesay and Bute. This corner of Scotland is dominated by coastline and lochs, with such famous places as Loch Lomond, Inveraray on Loch Fyne and the Kyles of Bute all within easy reach. Some of the small single track roads offer the best views and turn a day out into an adventure.
Loads of good fishing and three golf courses within 15 minutes.A self-contained wing of the house, which shares the driveway and part of the garden is under separate ownership, but this does not detract from the amenity of the property. Accommodation:
