Ormidale House is a magnificent, beautifully maintained historic 17th century Laird's House close to the head of Loch Riddon in Argyll. Ther house nestles in 20 acres of mainly wooded private grounds just above the Kyles of Bute, with its own lochan, river, and waterfalls and abutting thousands of acres of forest. After is first season Ormidale has proved to be one of our most popular venues and is extremely competitively priced for large groups.
Built in 1696, with a wing designed by Sir Robert Lorimer
added in 1900, the house was once a seat of the Clan Campbell.
With separate playrooms for adults and children, a TV room
and a formal drawing room with open fire, Ormidale House
works really well for any large party of a dozen or more
people who want a luxurious break in grand-ish surroundings
without the formal atmosphere of a hotel.
The garden and grounds are the work of the renowned Victorian
landscape gardener Thomas Mawson of Kendal and include
extensive lawns, shrubbed terraces, and a south-facing
sun terrace. You can walk for an hour within the house's
own gardens, and immediate access into the forests and
onto the mountains mean this is a fabulous base for walkers.
Sailing, fishing, shooting, and stalking of the highest
quality are all available locally. The house is equipped
with a dozen bikes, four sets of golf clubs, fishing rods,
etc. The garden features an outdoor children's play area,
large trampoline, croquet lawn, separate football pitch,
barbecue and midge machine! Dogs are always welcome.
The cottage next door is available to groups taking the
main house and provides further accommodation for six people.
