Easterheughs Castle is in a unique and breathtaking location on the edge of the Firth of Forth with panoramic views across the estuary to Edinburgh Castle, the Forth bridges and the Pentland Hills.

The castle is guaranteed to enthral, intrigue and surprise holidaymakers. The first surprise is that this seemingly 16th century tower is only 70 years old! It was lovingly hand-built from stone and timber reclaimed from various historic sites throughout Fife – including Burntisland Castles where Mary Queen of Scots stayed - and deserves its Grade A-listed status. This is the former home of famous Scottish painter Jack Vettriano. The annexe adjoining the castle, which sleeps two, was his studio and is available for let with the castle at no extra charge.

The second surprise is cleverly concealed behind a false door in the grand drawing room and is the small movie theatre with projector screen and cinema seats. There is a formal, timber-floored dining room, which lends itself to ceilidhs. The bedrooms are small and accessed by steep, twisty stairs, however they have fabulous views and the bathrooms are bright and modern.

The castle grounds have been landscaped and a large area of timber decking is a perfect spot for enjoying a drink or a barbecue while watching the sun go down over the Forth. There are three acres, much of it lawned and ideal for games, with a private path leading to the Fife coastal path.

This is a wonderful base for exploring Edinburgh, the East Neuk of Fife fishing villages and the hills and glens of Perthshire and Angus.
