Since 1782, Strathtyrum has been owned by the Cheape family. It is a fact not widely known that the name of Cheape and Strathtyrum has played a significant role in the evolution of the history of Golf at St Andrews.
The house will accommodate up to thirteen people, in a style, elegance and degree of comfort found only in a family home where so much attention is given to maintaining the hallmark of welcome and service.
To stay at Strathtyrum is an experience, for to enter the house is to enter one of the great sanctums in the history of golf. Were it not for James Cheape who purchased the links in 1821, and in so doing rescued them from the ravages of the rabbit, it is most likely the world would have been deprived of arguably the greatest golf course of all time- The Old Course at St Andrews.
Strathtyrum is available for let by arrangement.

Lower Ground Floor: Twin bedroom; bathroom; billiard room.
Ground Floor: Main hall, drawing room; dining room; library; cloakrooms.
First Floor: Double bedroom, four twin bedrooms, single bedroom, five bathrooms.
Activities:
- The famous Championship 'Old Course' at St. Andrews is situated directly opposite from Strathtyrum.
- There are other golf courses in St. Andrews, which can all be enjoyed.
- Local riding facilities including beach rides on Tentamuir beach where 'Chariots of Fire' was filmed.
- Clay pigeon shooting and other outdoor activities are available on request.
Included:
The rental is inclusive of a fine four course dinner including wines; a well stocked drinks tray; a personal laundry service; bed and breakfast. For guests who have taken the house for seven nights, dinner is provided for five nights only. Open fires, oil fired central heating.
