Binsness occupies a spectacular position,
surrounded on two sides by the waters of Findhorn Bay. The garden
is of exceptional beauty, featuring a large avenue of yews leading
down to the sea. The house is approached by a five mile lane, the
last few miles becoming a private sandy track through pine woods
and sand dunes, and is set in grounds of 110 acres.
The house dates from the 17th century, when it was the sole survivor
of a savage storm that destroyed the village of Culbin.
Binsness was partially extended and refurbished in 2005 and now
boasts stylish new bathrooms and a new oil central heating system
to ensure cosy stays all year round. This is a comfortable and charming
family home with two sittings rooms. The new porch, with window seats,
and the small seating terrace above, offer delightful views of the
sea and the lovely vista down the avenue of yew trees.
The surrounding
country offers a wide choice of golf, marvellous beach walks and
historical sites including Culloden Battlefield and Cawdor Castle.
Aviemore and the Cairngorms offer walking, skiing and climbing
and are within easy reach as is Loch Ness, just over an hour’s
drive.
