Built in the late 17th century by Sir
Robert Gordon of Gordonstoun, Dallas Lodge is a very warm and comfortable
home that is much loved by its owners. The Lodge stands in the 10,000
acre Dallas Estate located along the River Lossie and eight miles
from the ancient market towns of Elgin and Forres. The family of
George Mifflin Dallas, a vice president of the USA and founder of
Dallas, Texas, can be traced to Dallas, Moray.
Great care has been taken to furnish the lodge tastefully and sympathetically.
The formal dining room is a warm chocolate colour with tartan curtains
and is kept cosy thanks to a large log fire. The calm drawing room
also has a large log fire and French windows opening to the front
lawns and borders. The kitchen and breakfast room overlook the rose
garden. Each bedroom has a wash hand basin, electric blankets and lovely
antique furnishings.
Guests will love
roaming around the gardens, boating on the pond and playing tennis
and croquet. There is a private beat for fishing in the River Lossie
on the estate and tickets can also be obtained for the Association
water. Salmon fishing on the nearby Rivers Spey and Findhorn can
also be booked via the usual letting agents. Fine, empty beaches
edge the Moray coast where there are sheltered coves and fishing
