Be
prepared to be blown away by the beauty of Gruinard Bay. When the
tide is out the stretches of red sandy beach seem endless and are
equally as welcoming on a still, sunny day as on a blustery, autumn
day. Mungasdale House overlooking the bay is a warm and welcoming
retreat after a day’s beachcombing, walking or exploring.
This former farmhouse has a cosy dining kitchen and open fire (wood
provided) as well as a formal dining room and warm lounge with
comfy chairs that invite you to sink in with a book.
Wester Ross offers excellent walking and loch fishing. Explore in the car towards Gairloch or Ullapool and you will find that around each corner is another breathtaking vista. The house is within easy reach of the famous Inverewe Gardens, owned by the National Trust for Scotland and a particular crowd-puller in May and June.
Ullapool and Gairloch are around 45 minutes’ drive away and offer boat trips, fishing, restaurants, gift shops and welcoming bars, many with entertainment.
Mungasdale House may be rented with nearby Bridge Cottage which can sleep seven people. Hill loch fishing for brown trout is available (fly only). A map in the house indicates how to walk to these beautiful little hill lochs.
