Load up with provisions, pack the fishing rod, the dog, the family or a group of carefully chosen friends and escape for a week to a wonderful location on the Isle of Jura. Feel your cares slip away as you board the ferry to Islay, island hop to Jura and drive along the only road, hugging the coast until you arrive at the top of a small incline overlooking Tarbert Bay where you will catch your first glimpse of the retreat which is Tarbert Lodge.

Situated down by the shore, with access to a tidal sandy beach, the property enjoys magnificent views across the bay and overlooks the Sound of Jura. Comfortably furnished with a welcoming warm kitchen with large Aga, a formal dining room, a drawing room with open fire and lovely views, and a selection of bedrooms and bathrooms, the property has an agreeable ambience with a timeless elegance. There is an area of formal ground with garden furniture and a path with direct access to the shore.

On the ground floor: Drawing room, dining room, family kitchen with Aga, double bedroom, twin bedroom, 2 bathrooms with wc, whb, bath.

First floor: 4 double bedrooms, single bedroom, 2 bathrooms with wc, whb, bath

Activities:

Trout fishing is included in the rent and further fishing or sport may be available by separate arrangement. There are beaches to explore, wildlife to wonder at with red deer in abundance , eagles and otters to be discovered and the Paps of Jura to conquer. Since tv reception is generally poor, evenings can be spent round the fire playing games, completing jigsaw puzzles or simply relaxing with a glass of the island's renowned malt whisky. The small village store at Craighouse (12 miles) is well stocked and for those who must keep in touch with the outside world there is a telephone/fax available in the lodge.

Oil central heating and open fires. Oil, electricity and logs included in rent which also includes daily domestic assistance. Beds have blankets and linen and towels are provided.
